After Greenwood School District 52 occupied the new Ninety Six High School campus, the former high school was transformed into the Ninety Six Wildcats Multiplex.

The 50,000 total square-foot renovation houses the Ninety Six Wildcats’ athletics and band department, the district’s administrative offices, and facilities maintenance department.

The campus upfit included HVAC systems and components designed to meet the indoor air quality, temperature and humidity control requirements given the nature of the spaces, from gyms and locker rooms to offices and the workshop.

Dedicated outside air system (DOAS) units throughout the main building address the primary need for higher-quality, less humid fresh air. DOAS components ensure only clean, preconditioned fresh air enters the building through the fresh air ducts, leading to cost savings, increased occupant comfort, and reduced energy consumption.

Blackstone’s scope of work included HVAC equipment demolition, installation, and startup, as well as responsibility for building controls. Furthermore, Blackstone fabricated the custom ductwork needed for air distribution and exhaust at our in-house sheet metal shop. In addition to (5) DOAS units, Blackstone crews installed (6) rooftop air conditioning units, (26) split-system heat pumps, (4) ductless split-system air conditioning units, (3) multi-split systems, and miscellaneous exhaust fans.
